Cash register shifts and counted closing by location
Open a shift with starting cash, record cash in and withdrawals and close with a counted amount. Review receipts and differences by location.
How Makinari helps Cash register shifts and counted closing by location
A store with several cashiers needs to distinguish sales from the money physically in its drawer. In POS options, Cash Register lets staff select an active location and open a shift with explicit starting cash, including zero. Only one shift may be open per site and location. Shift-linked POS payment receipts retain the applied amount, method and responsible actor; card and transfer payments appear separately and do not increase expected drawer cash.
The responsible cashier or an authorized administrator records cash in, withdrawals or cash refunds with a reason. On closing, staff enter counted cash and notes: the server calculates expected cash and the difference and retains an immutable snapshot for review or printing in History. Operations require connectivity, and unresolved payments must be reconciled before closing. A cash-refund withdrawal only records a drawer outflow: it does not reverse a sale, execute a Stripe refund or post a journal entry. History covers shift-linked receipts, not a reconstruction of every older payment or payment from other channels.
Key Workflows
- Select the location in POS Cash Register and open its single shift with starting cash and an authenticated cashier.
- Collect payments with the shift selected and record reasoned cash in, withdrawals or cash refunds; keep non-cash methods separate.
- Resolve pending operations, count the drawer and close with notes; review or print shift receipts, movements and differences in History.
Potential operational benefits
Shifts with named responsibilities and explicit starting cash, explained cash movements and reviewable closing without confusing drawer reconciliation with financial adjustments.
Results depend on your process, data quality and configuration.
