A professional firm’s own accounting
Keep the firm’s own books, not its clients’ accounts. Set up the chart, enter opening balances and record manual journals to review P&L and the balance sheet in one currency.
How Makinari helps A professional firm’s own accounting
A small advisory or consulting firm needs to review its own service invoices, expenses and balances. CRM retains the firm’s customers; Sales and Transactions supply its activity documents. An authorized person explicitly initializes the chart of accounts, adds asset, liability, equity, income or expense accounts and prepares reviewed opening balances. The opening form’s equity counterpart is a read-only balancing figure. This configuration does not create a multi-company practice for keeping each client’s accounts.
Journal Entries supports balanced manual journals and edits; journals generated from documents are reviewed through their source rather than overwritten as manual entries. Finance Reports shows P&L, balance sheet and trial balance for one selected currency. Dates are UTC calendar days: P&L uses an inclusive range and excludes opening entries; balance sheets and trial balances include opening balances. CSVs retain the selected currency, and incomplete data requires reconciliation. There is no foreign-exchange conversion, perpetual inventory valuation, automatic cost of sales, period closing or tax filing. The professional validates classifications and adjustments under the firm’s accounting policy.
Key Workflows
- Initialize the firm’s own chart, review account types and enter opening balances with verified currency and equity counterpart.
- Create a balanced manual journal for a reviewed adjustment and separately inspect journals generated from the firm’s invoices or expenses.
- Select a currency and UTC dates to review P&L, balance sheet and trial balance; export CSVs and resolve reconciliation errors before using totals.
Potential operational benefits
The firm’s own accounts and reviewable adjustments alongside single-currency statements, supporting internal information without implying period closing or a tax return.
Results depend on your process, data quality and configuration.

Examine the firm’s recorded expense categories to review classification; this does not replace account balances in the ledger.
Monthly Sales & Cost Evolution
Compare recorded sales and operating costs as context for the statements, without treating this analytical series as audited financial statements.
Accounting Statements
Review P&L, balance sheet and trial balance by currency and UTC dates, with opening entries excluded from P&L and included in the balance sheet.
