Recurring professional service invoicing
Manage consulting retainers, agency services or technology maintenance. Generate an outstanding-period invoice and record partial receipts without confusing them with automatic charges.
How Makinari helps Recurring professional service invoicing
A consultancy, agency or technology maintenance firm charges a business client a retainer. The recurring catalog service and CRM contact are linked to a subscription. In Subscriptions, administrators review the amount, next billing date and due date. Generate period invoice creates or retrieves the outstanding-period invoice for an active subscription, stores its period boundaries and leaves it pending payment. Due-date terms carry forward as a calendar-day offset from the billing date; no due date is invented when the required dates are missing.
The New invoice form supports amounts or periods selected by the team; manual generation does not itself advance the subscription cycle. Administrators record a partial or full receipt against a specific invoice, check the balance and identify pending accounting warnings. Registering payment documents a receipt: it does not execute a Stripe charge or verify a bank movement. Reports show recorded sales and costs, not MRR, NRR or contractual retention inferred from customer cohorts. Service delivery and contract changes remain subject to the account owner’s review.
Key Workflows
- Link the client and recurring service; review amount, next billing date and due date to set terms for future invoices.
- Generate or retrieve the outstanding-period invoice and verify its dates; use New invoice for a deliberate adjustment without assuming cycle advancement.
- Record a partial receipt against the selected invoice, check the remaining balance and review accounting synchronization warnings before resolving follow-up.
Potential operational benefits
Retainers with identifiable periods, due dates and receipts, separating the obligation to invoice from recorded money and reducing scattered balance checks.
Results depend on your process, data quality and configuration.
